Pavel Shumeiko, Ukrainian with a base in EMPIRE Tennis Academy

The newest member of the EMPIRE Tennis Academy Pavel Shumeiko (16) entered the ITF junior tournament EMPIRE Cup U18 in singles by overwhelming Polish player Sikorski in two sets 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2.

"I think Pavel is in general better player than his opponent. He can keep concentrated. If we don’t take the second set into account, it would be 6-3 6-2, which would be suitable to the both players quality," said coach Jaroslav Kormys for www.tcempire.sk. He explains how the Ukrainian youngster joined the EMPIRE Tennis Academy.

"His father is a tennis expert. It is a former very good player; he played with Medvedev or Kafelnikov. We are glad that he decided for our club and the Academy. He sees his future here as a chance for his son’s improvement. Son is not signed to every single tournament; he has an exact plan for almost a year in advance. They organize traveling, school, financial budget... It's unique, professional approach of a parent. That is why we are pleased to have him here in Trnava," added Kormys about No. 568 of the Junior Combined Rankings.

Pavel Shumeiko is according to Kormys perspective player, well prepared for the challenges of tennis. "Since his father was a professional, they took care of everything. They pay attention to the training, gym, fitness, stretching and regeneration. Two months ago, there has been suspicion of a possible injury so they let laser remove something from his wrist, they were thinking ahead. Father wants a son to attend school regularly, after the tournament in Trnava he goes back home. He returns to Trnava in May, he will practice and travel to the tournaments."
