Elina Svitolina advanced to the semifinal at WTA Premier tournament in Japan

Ukrainian EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Elina Svitolina played couple of tournaments in Asia. She reached semi-final at USD 1 mil. Toray Pan Pacific Open. 

Elina Svitolina, WTA No. 20 is in good form on her Asian tour. Toray Pan Pacific Open is Premier category event with USD 1 mil. Prize money and is played on hard courts. Elina Svitolina beat American Vandeweghe, Russian Pavlyuchenkova and in quarterfinal number one seed Gabine Muguruza on her way to the semi-final. After 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over the Spaniard, Svitolina leads the head to head 3:2. 
Svitolina played semi-final against Japanese Naomi Osaka. Russian player lost against Osaka in Australian open Round 2 in two sets 4-6, 4-6. Unfortunately Osaka had the edge also this time, winning the tie 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. 
Elina Svitolina will move up the ranking onto the 18th position in WTA ranking. Her career best ranking remains world No. 14 from March this year.
