Martin, Zelenay and Podlipnik in the Davis Cup teams for play off tie

Three EMPIRE Tennis Academy members will be in the Davis Cup team for play offs for the World Group, played from 16th to 18th September 2016. Andrej Martin and Igor Zelenay in Slovakian team, Hans Podlipnik-Castillo will play for Chile in Canada.

Captain Miroslav Mecir announced the team, in which Andrej Martin and Igor Zelenay will play alongside Jozef Kovalik and Norbert Gombos. Lleyton Hewitt published these six names in the provisional squad on the website of the Australian Tennis Federation: Nick Kyrgios, Bernard Tomic, John Millman, James Duckworth, Sam Groth and John Peers. Match will be played on grass in Ken Rosewall Arena in Olympic Park in Sydney. "Unfortunately draw was not very plesant to us. All the players are happy to play in Australia in January but this year it looks like we will have the pleasure to go there twice. Nothing we can do, lot will depend whether Nick Kyrgios will play or not. I do not really like the fast surface but we have players for this kind of surface, so we will go there in good spirits," said  Andrej Martin for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

EMPIRE Tennis Academy members and doubles specialist Igor Zelenay were in the official Slovakian team for the last Davis Cup match against Hungary, played between 15th and 17th July in Budapest. Miloslav Grolmus was with them in the Hungarian capital. Andrej Martin won the first point on Friday and after the doubles with Zelenay and Martin Slovakia won 3-0. It is thid time in a row Slovakia will play the play offs of the World Group.

Hans Podlipnik in Canada

Hans Podlipnik-Castillo is in the Chilean team for Davis Cup. In the same time as Slovakia, Chile will play in Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Team consists of Gonzalo Lama, Christian Garin and Nicolas Jarry. Nicolas Massu is the team captain.

Chile played in July in 2nd round of I. group in American zone in Iquique against Columbia. After first two singles, it was 1-1. Hans Podlipnik-Castillo together with Jarry added third point winning the doubles 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. Santiago Giraldo retired in the third singles and therefore the match ended 2:1 in favour of Chile.
