"It's a topic to discuss with my brother, Alexander Timkovskii, who is now my fitness coach and he travels with me to all tournaments. When I was six years old, he sent me to the tennis club. At first I played only one hour, 2-3 times a week. I was improving step by step. I played better and better. My first club was in my hometown of Togliatti. At the beginning, it was for me all about fun, because at that stage I did not need more. As for the parents who supported me in the sport, my father Sergei is a former hockey club player of Lada Togliatti club, my mother Tatiana was track and field sportsman."

Great Junior Roland Garros 2014:

"I remember the first tournament I have won. I was 10 years old and it was played in Togliatti. But my biggest success is the winning of the Roland Garros junior title. It was the best day of my life, even after the final match I was nervous all the time. I was really excited but also very exhausted. I really couldn't believe my luck and realize what had happened. I found it hard to believe that I’ve won a Grand Slam tournament. Another great success I have achieved in Telavi, Georgia where I won the singles title in September 2014. I remember that I was playing three matches in one day - quarterfinal, semifinal and final. In the last final match we had a tiebreak in the third set even... I thought that this couldn't happen but now I know that it's possible."

"I have felt well here and I've had some good training when I first came to the club in autumn 2014. I like this small city and club. I was here because I wanted to find a new coach and I have already done so. I like it here in Slovakia. I had a coach in Togliatti, but I wanted to find a new one."

Vladimir Platenik: "She plays in an extremely intelligent way, trying to change the rhythm. She has a very clever hand, plays slice shots, lift shots, and she has good moves. She can be successful. I would compare her style to Agnieszka Radwanska. Darya is a player who plays tennis with her head and she knows how to change the rhythm of the game. She has the potential to be in the top hundred of the WTA rankings."
