Zelenay takes doubles title from Kazan

Igor Zelenay, Kazan, ATP challenger

EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Igor Zelenay played at Kazan Kremlin Cup Challenger in Kazan and together with Belarussian Bury they won the whole tournament.

Challenger with prize money of 40K USD was played indoors on hard courts. Igor Zelenay paired up with Belarussian Aliaksandr Bury. They were seeded as number one pair as favourites to win the tournament. They beat wild card holders, home players Selivanovsky/Vasilenko 6-1, 6-2. In quarterfinal, they once again played against Russian players Boborykin/Kiuamov. They were successful in two sets, beating them 6-3, 6-4, to follow up with semi-final win. Most dramatic was the final against Kravchuk with Oswald. Zelenay with Bury were the lucky ones to win 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
"We played well the whole tournament. First two matches were not so difficult. Final is always challenging. Especially, when you have to play super tiebreak, it becomes very nervous. But fortunately, we have successfully finished the game. Co-operation with Aliaksandr was great; we will consider playing together again in future. Most importantly I have defended points from last year," said Igor Zelenay after the final for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

Igor Zelenay is currently No. 68 in ATP doubles ranking, he won his 26th doubles title at challengers. Last year he took six titles, one of them in Kazan as well.
