Vanda Vargova’s coach: She is unpredictable, dynamic and she moves very well

Vanda Vargova has won five Tennis Europe's tournaments in a row in the 2017 season while coached by Juraj Jancovic, who shared the knowledge of her game with us. They have been cooperating for more than a year, and she is a great challenge for him because she is not like many of her peers.

How come that Vanda has been playing so good lately?

"Vanda is starting to use her talent and potential. She is mentally resilient and her tennis is more tactical than it used to be."

What do you consider to be her greatest positives as a player, what is special about her personality and a game?

"She's stubborn, brazen, and rebellious, this is what helps her during the matches. She can show a lot of styles, she can use a various types of shots, she is not predictable. She can change the pace of the game, reads well and feels the game of opponents and manages to play tactically. It's dynamic tennis and she moves very well."

When was it that Slovakia had a dominant player like her?

"I really do not know if someone had managed to win five Tennis Europe tournaments in a row, as Vanda did. Of course, Slovakia has had several similarly talented players in the past."

How does she benefit from the presence and training in the EMPIRE Trnava Tennis Centre and in the international EMPIRE Tennis Academy?

"In Trnava, she has people she likes and she spends all day here. She has everything she needs for the preparation: good sparing and fitness preparation under the supervision of the Molfit team where the renowned Slovak fitness coach, Maros Molnar, works."

How do you interact with Vanda and how long have you known her?

"We are working together for a year and three months. I saw the potential in her game and I wanted to be her coach. She also accepted it with enthusiasm. Vanda is a challenge, she is not like most players. The coach must also be a psychologist with her. But on the other hand, she is a great fighter, she can bring technical and tactical advice to her game and play a dynamic and all-court tennis."

What are your assumptions about her for the future?

"I believe she can become a high-quality player. She plays like boys, it´s similar to them and she is courageous. And as I said before, she can show a lot of styles and that can help her in the future a lot."
