Svitolina was in Round 4 at Roland Garros, Kasatkina lost in 3rd round

Two EMPIRE Tennis Academy members Daria Kasatkina and Elina Svitolina were also playing in Paris at the second grand slam tournament of the season Roland Garros, played between 22 May and 5 June.

Roland Garros 2016 with total prize money of 32 017 500 EUR is played on clay. Daria Kasatkina beat German Friedsam in the first round in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Elina Svitolina was also successful in first round, beating Romanian Cirstea in two sets 6-1, 6-3 and then she beat American Taylor Townsend in second round 6-3, 6-3. Ana Ivanovic was her next opponent. Head to head is 7-0 for Serbian player but Svitolina wasn't afraid of this statistics and won 6-4, 6-4. Her next opponent was world No. 1 Serena Williams, whom she lost 1-6, 1-6.

Daria Kasatkina beat home player Virginie Razzano in the second round after three dramatic sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. "Daria was shocked by aggressive play by her opponent Razzano. It took her time to get used to it. Then she started playing aggressive herself and most importantly accurately. She served better and it was a good effort from her until 4:0 in the third set. Razzano had cramps, it was a bit of set back for Daria but she luckily finished the game off," said Vladimir Platenik for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

Kasatkina was playing against Dutch Kiki Bertens on Saturday, 28 May. Bertens is World No. 58, it was their first head to head match, but Kasatkina lost 2-6, 6-3, 8-10.

Daria Kasatkina, Elina Svitolina and Andrej Martin are all members of EMPIRE Tennis Academy and were playing at least in the third round of Roland Garros.
