Rebecca Sramkova from EMPIRE Tennis Academy: I am on the right track

EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Rebecca Sramkova (21) has visited Trnava’s international tennis academy for Open Day in the beginnings of April. Slovak player closed last season in July because of health problems, but fresh two March titles from Turkey helped her to get back into a good mood.

Rebecca Sramkova is currently ranked No. 371, but she was No. 111 in the WTA rankings last May. She found a way how to deal with health problems, which kept her out of tennis courts until January 2018.

She started new season in USA in February with playing ITF tournaments. But she missed luck still. "I have got infection since I arrived. I was ill for six weeks. It was tough times for me, but everything started to be better since tournaments in Turkey in March. I got the pace and catch the track," said Rebecca Sramkova during TC EMPIRE Trnava Open Day for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

She was in good mood during this day. "I am glad to delight the children, if they know at all who I am," laughed Rebecca Sramkova, when she got a question, how she likes shooting with the children and giving autographs.

She admitted the last months were very demanding for her. "I had to deal first of all with the act, I can’t play and also if I would be able to play tennis ever. But I think we have found the ways how to get out from this situation. I work with excellent physiotherapist Iveta Stankova. She really helped me. I had a shifted plate and still have, but we set up the right exercises to eliminate this problem. Tennis is a sport you don´t need to use all muscles, so I strengthen the neglected back muscles and it´s good,” said Rebecca Sramkova.

Her last year's team has not changed. Her fitness coach is Tomas Stasko, tennis coach Boris Sedlacek and she also uses the services of psychologist Peter Bielik.

Rebecca Sramkova no longer wants to run another 15 000 ITF tournaments, winning two of them in Turkey in Antalya last March. However, they she will travel back to Turkey. "But not for playing 15 000 USD tournaments. I am preparing for 60 000 USD competition in Istanbul and the next week will be running Fed Cup in Belarus. Team captain Matej Liptak wrote to me that I am in for 90-percent. Than my plan is to play than WTA tournament in Prague. I will be preparing for this tournament on Trnava’s clay," explain Slovak tennis player. During her stay in Trnava she gives advices also from International Academy head coach Vladimir Platenik.
