Kasatkina in the WTA main draw for the second time

Darya Kasatkina, WTA tournament, Marrakech, Morocco, Vladimir Platenik

The member of the EMPIRE Tennis Academy Darya Kasatkina played the WTA tournament in Marrakech, Morocco. She was at the WTA tournament just for the second time in her career.

The talented Russian player, who is coached by Vladimir Platenik in Trnava, was playing the first round at this level just once before. In October 2014, she lost in Moscow to Alison Riske from the USA (No. 44 in the rankings) 1-6, 2-6.

This time in Morocco, Darya Kasatkina, the holder of a wild card, has even tougher rival. It was Spaniard Garbine Muguruza, No 1. seeded and world No. 20 won 6-4, 6-1. "Darya was playing great and aggressively in the beginning. But with the score 4-4, she wanted to play it safe and that was decisive. She was playing slow and Muguruza's aggressive style was successful. Darya's performance was the same in the beginning of the second set and she quickly lost 0-3. She was trying to be more active, but it was too late. Overall, however, it is a positive experience. Darya herself said she wasn't worse than Muguruza. But experience is crucial. I hope she will learn from it a lot and she will continue in the effort to be a better player," said Vladimir Platenik for the www.empire-tennis-academy.com website.
